Research Groups

In order to promote the collaborative research culture, UCSC staff is invited to carry out research and development activities as small teams comprising one or more senior staff members, junior staff members, full or part-time research assistants and students. Some groups also invite external parties to collaborate to carry out activities of research groups by funding fully or partially as well as contributing to their expertise in the respective area.

Language Technology Research Laboratory

Language Technology Research Laboratory (LTRL) was established in 2004 to address the growing need of local language computing in Sri Lanka by doing Localization and Language Processing research and development.

Sustainable Computing Research

The Sustainable Computing Research Group (SCoRe) at UCSC conducts research covering various aspects of wireless sensor networks, embedded systems, digital forensic, information security, mobile applications and e-learning.

The modeling and simulation group of UCSC was initially formed in 2008 to work on a Ship Handling Simulator (ViduSayura) for the Sri Lankan Navy.

University of Colombo School of Computing consists of six centres namely Advanced Digital Media Technology Centre (ADMTC), Professional Development Centre (PDC), External Degrees Centre (EDC), Computing Services Centre (CSC), Centre for Digital Forensic (CDF) and e-Learning Centre (eLC)

Advanced Digital Media Technology Centre

ADMTC plays a major role in providing multimedia-related activities of UCSC while offering related external and extension courses and services to external parties. Most importantly, ADMTC manages the UCSC Auditorium and the Digital Studio.
